Summer Kitchens That Actually Get Used

The difference between a showpiece and a workhorse summer kitchen is planning for real cooking:

• Built-in grill plus at least one secondary appliance — side burner, flat top, or pizza oven
• Ventilation hood under any covered roof (a code and comfort essential)
• Refrigeration, ice, and a sink to end the constant trips inside
• Durable counters — granite or porcelain slabs outperform most materials in UV and salt air
• Storage in marine-grade polymer or stainless cabinetry that shrugs off Florida humidity

Gas, water, drainage, and electrical all route through the main structure, so the summer kitchen is another argument for integrated design — retrofitting utilities later costs multiples of doing it during construction.
